
Luc Vanheel is a Belgian national. After graduating from the University of Leuven (K.U.L) in Applied Economic Sciences, Mr Vanheel started a 24 year professional career in 1983 with AB InBev, formerly called Interbrew, the number one beer brewing company in the word. Initially he occupied positions both on Belgian and Corporate levels - including management reporting, IS project management, strategic planning and business development focussing on internal and external international growth. He also participated in an 18 month Executive Training Programme in Japan, organised by the European Commission.
He spent 10 years as expatriate in Central and Eastern Europe, where he held the position of Finance Director in several newly acquired affiliates in Serbia-Montenegro, Croatia, Hungary, Russia and Ukraine. In Moscow he was CFO of Sun Interbrew, employing 8000 staff, operating 8 plants and listed on the Luxembourg stock exchange. In 2006, he established InBev Business Services in Budapest as Managing Director, and was responsible for the centralisation of Finance and Procurement operations from the Western European affiliates, employing some 200 staff.
In 2008 he joined EASA as Deputy Director and Head of Plans & Programmes, responsible for Business Planning, the SAP-ERP implementation, Application Management and Project Outsourcing. In the beginning of 2009 he held the position of Acting Director of the newly created Finance & Business Services Directorate.
Luc Vanheel was appointed Finance & Business Services Director of the European Aviation Safety Agency on 15 September 2009 by the Agency's Management Board.
